v0.2.1

New icon

Obscura Trace 0.2.1, signed with Developer ID, notarized by Apple and stapled, for macOS 14 or later. Published on October 19, 2026.

Icon

  • The app carries the new icon from the Obscura Trace v3 brand kit.
  • Screen colors do not change.

Known limitations

  • Visual fingerprints recognize neither cropping nor rotation.
  • Batch renaming is only available from the command line, and never on exFAT or FAT32.
  • A transfer has no pause or cancel; if interrupted, it resumes.
  • Large collections: measured on 10⁶ real files, analysis memory grows with the size of the collection (analysis peak: 659 MB); a second analysis re-reads files already fingerprinted. Results remain correct.
  • Apple Silicon: the release suite, Review Center scrolling and hashing throughput are measured there, but not yet the inventory of 10⁵ real files.
  • High-contrast appearance and large text sizes have not had a manual pass.
v0.2.0

Safer analyses and transfers

Obscura Trace 0.2.0, signed with Developer ID, notarized by Apple and stapled, for macOS 14 or later. Published on October 9, 2026.

Inventory

  • A file the analysis did not see is never reported as gone: files in an unreadable folder, on a disconnected source, or of an unchecked type. The “Résultat” (Result) card names what was not seen.
  • Photos libraries and application packages are no longer traversed or transferred.
  • Truncated JPEGs are classified as “Fichiers corrompus” (Corrupted files).
  • A source can be widened to a folder that contains it, or removed, without losing its inventory or your review decisions.

Transfers

  • A source is removed only if it is identical to the copied and verified file; before a permanent deletion, the copy is read back.
  • The destination is identified by its volume; a missing destination, or one inside the source, is refused.
  • The confirmation covers the whole plan; failures are named file by file.
  • The free-space margin is proportional to the transfer: 5%, between 64 MB and 1 GB.
  • SMB shares measured on a real NAS, three defects fixed. An AFP share cannot be used as a destination.

Jobs and catalog

  • Only one process writes to a catalog: the command line is refused while the app is open.
  • A job interrupted by a crash or power loss is flagged “à reprendre” (to resume).
  • Quitting the app or closing its window during a transfer asks for confirmation.

Review Center

  • Selection and detail stay consistent after each decision.
  • Confidence is always shown in full, at any window width.
  • Each decision has its keyboard shortcut in the Revue (Review) menu.
  • The master explanation names the files.

Accessibility and wording

  • Every control has a label read by VoiceOver.
  • Texts agree in singular and plural.

Known limitations

  • Visual fingerprints recognize neither cropping nor rotation.
  • Batch renaming is only available from the command line, and never on exFAT or FAT32.
  • A transfer has no pause or cancel; if interrupted, it is resumed.
  • Large collections: measured on 10⁶ real files, memory grows with the size of the collection (analysis peak: 659 MB; reading back a manifest of 10⁶ entries: up to 2.9 GB), and a second analysis re-reads files already fingerprinted. Results remain correct.
  • Apple Silicon: the release suite, Review Center scrolling, and hashing throughput are measured there, but not yet the inventory of 10⁵ real files.
  • High-contrast appearance and large text sizes have not had a manual pass.
